Shiromani Akali Dal leader shot dead in Hoshiarpur village

HOSHIARPUR: Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former sarpanch of Megowal Ganjian village Surjit Singh Ankhi, 50, was allegedly shot dead late on Thursday.
It is learnt that he was sitting at a shop when two persons came on a bike and one of them shot him.

Ankhi was taken to a private hospital in Hoshiarpur where he was declared brought dead.
Ankhi remained two time sarpanch of his village and his wife also remained at the post for one term.He had once contested assembly election on the ticket of SAD (Amritsar). He was an active leader of SAD (Badal) in district Hoshiarpur.
