Schools and other educational institutions in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh will be closed tomorrow, September 17, 2024. The Odisha government has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges within the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state. PM Modi will be present to launch the flagship ‘SUBHADRA’ scheme, a key initiative of the Odisha government.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office in Odisha, "All schools and colleges in the Bhubaneswar metropolitan area will be closed on September 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Subhadra Yojana in Bhubaneswar on that day." The statement further added, "A large public meeting will be held in Bhubaneswar. In view of this, the state government has decided that all schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar will remain closed, while government offices will be closed for the first half of the day."
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, schools are expected to remain closed tomorrow in observance of Vishwakarma Puja/Anant Chaturdashi. According to the official school holiday calendar released by the Department of Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh, this occasion falls under the restricted holiday section. Therefore, it is likely that schools and other educational institutions will be closed. However, students, parents, and guardians are advised to check with their respective school authorities for confirmation.
Additionally, schools and educational institutions in Maharashtra will be closed on September 18, 2024, to observe Eid-e-Milad celebrations. The Maharashtra government has rescheduled the Eid-e-Milad holiday in Mumbai from September 16 to September 18 due to its overlap with Ganesh immersion. This change, announced in an official notification on Friday, was made following concerns raised by the Muslim community about the clash of festivals on the original date.
