Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra legislative assembly’s leader of opposition Ambadas Danve on Saturday blamed
BJP for causing communal rift in the state to reap political benefit.
He said, “BJP has been trying to cause Hindu-Muslim riots since last year. They tried the same in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati, Shevgaon, Sangamner and Kolhapur, but people did not fall into their trap.”
He made the statement during his visit to Pandharpur in the district.
Stating that the state govt was already under a debt of Rs 7.88 lakh crore, Danve said, “The funds meant for development are being diverted to schemes aimed at garnering votes. Unable to get the desired response, BJP is causing communal rift to reap political benefit in the upcoming assembly elections.”
He went on to state that the BJP is yet to come to terms with the setback their candidates faced in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra and, in desperation to come back to power, communal emotions are being fanned. Speaking to newspersons, former MP and AIMIM state president Syed Imtiaz Jaleel said that all these acts of provoking Muslims and pitting one community against the other has been scripted by the ruling Mahayuti govt.
He said, “The Mahant made the statement three days back but nobody took cognisance of it, so he made a reel of the controversial statement and shared it from his official social media platform. We appeal to people to abstain from falling into the trap laid by politicians. I thank chief minister Eknath Shinde for backing the Mahant and endorsing what I have been saying since the incident came to light.”
