Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 30-year-old woman fell victim to a chain-snatching incident at the Waluj vegetable market on Saturday evening. The crime involved a group of three individuals, of whom one was apprehended by local residents and handed over to the police.
According to investigation officer Ajay Jadhav of the Waluj MIDC Police Station, the incident occurred around 7:45pm.
The suspects followed the victim before one of them forcibly stole her gold chain, valued at approximately Rs 15,000. As the woman shouted for help, locals were able to detain one of the suspects, while the other two managed to escape with the stolen chain.
The detained individual (25), a resident of Babhulgao village in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, is currently in police custody. A search is underway to locate the two remaining suspects.
The MIDC Waluj police have registered an offence against all three accused with further investigation ongoing.
