Bathinda: Three workers were killed after a massive fire broke out at a mattress factory in Gehri Buttar village of
Bathinda on Tuesday night. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The deceased have been identified as Lakhbir, Ninder Singh, and Vijay. Fire tenders from various places were put into service to douse fire. It was only on Wednesday morning that the fire was under control.
Police are looking into the matter.
HP man dies in cooker explosionShimla: A 52-year-old man died in a pressure cooker blast in Bhadthu village of Kakkar panchayat in Bhoranj sub-division of Hamirpur district on Wednesday morning. A native of Parnoh village in Mandi district, Gyan Chand had come to Bhadthu village as a cook for the “shradh” rituals and when he tried to pick up a 22-litre cooker having lentils, it suddenly exploded resulting in his death. As the villagers took him to Bhoranj civil hospital, he was declared brought dead by the medical team.
Drone, heroin seized in PunjabAmritsar: Police have recovered 10 kg of heroin and a drone in two cases, Amritsar (rural) senior superintendent of police Charanjit Singh said here on Wednesday. In the first case, police arrested Jagrup Singh alias Jugnu of Dala village for the possession of five kg of heroin. The cops also seized two mobile phones and a motorcycle of the accused. In the second case, police recovered five kg of heroin and a drone from the fields of the border village Manjh.
50 HP roads shutKullu: Rainfall and landslides forced the closure of 50 roads on Wednesday in Himachal Pradesh, while there is forecast for more downpour. The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) reported highest 21 roads blocked in Shimla district, followed by 13 in Mandi, 10 in Kangra, 5 in Kullu, and another in Sirmaur.
