Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Sunday caught 42 stray dogs around Island Grounds, Sivananda Salai, Kamarajar Salai, and other nearby areas to ensure there are no obstructions during the F4 event.
GCC veterinary officer J Kamal Hussain said the dogs have been taken to the Pulianthope pound for sterilization. “They will be released once the event is over.
Dogs may jump medians and enter the track. There are also openings in some stretches,” he said.
Action was taken after a stray dog entered the race track, temporarily disrupting free practice on Saturday. About 50 dog catchers were involved, and 10 vehicles were used for the operation.
