₹100-₹5,000 fine for littering in Cuttack
Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is all set to impose penalties on residents for littering on the roads of the city from Monday.
“The fine ranges from Rs 1,00 to Rs 5,000. Initially, minimum fine will be imposed on violators but the amount will double in case of a repeat offence,” said CMC commissioner Bijay Dash.

A 15-member team has been formed in CMC to carry out the work from Monday.

The civic body has held awareness camps across the 59 wards of the city to make sure the fines are imposed in case of violations.
“We had introduced door-to-door garbage collection many years ago. CMC workers visit collect garabge from households and even after that people keep littering the roads. No such act will be tolerated now,” added Dash. “We often find people throwing waste on gully pit covers. They think street cleaners will pick up the waste. But during monsoon, these plastic bags choke and clog the drains, blocking water from being drained out,” Dash said.
