Cuttack: A 61-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking and critically injuring 23-year-old son following an argument over Rs 100 in Lalitagiri village of Cuttack district on Monday. The accused has been identified as Manas Behera. Police said an argument started between Manas and his son after the latter refused to give him Rs 100 to buy fish.
In a fit of rage, Manas attacked his son with a sharp-edged weapon when he was taking rest, the police said.
While Manas was trying to flee from the spot, locals caught him and handed him over to the police.
Locals rescued his son and shifted him to Mahanga community health centre in a critical condition. After his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
“He was admitted in the ICU. A team of doctors are monitoring him,” said the superintendent of SCB, Sudhansu Mishra.
