52-year-old man held for attempted rape of minor

HARIDWAR: A 52-year-old man was arrested in Haridwar district after he allegedly attempted to rape a nine-year-old girl. He lured the girl out of her home while she was alone and took her to an empty plot nearby. The girl's father caught the accused red-handed and locals had beaten him up before they handed him over to police.
A case was filed against the man under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and BNS.
SSI of the police station where the case was filed told TOI, "The accused is a neighbour of the girl's family. He was trying to sexually assault the girl but her father reached on time and rescued her."
