Dehradun: Around 70 govt doctors from various districts held a two-hour protest at directorate of health office in Dehradun on Wednesday, demanding implementation of Special Dynamic Assured Career Progression (SDACP) scheme. They gave a one-week deadline for the scheme to be implemented, warning of a statewide strike if their demands are not met. They said the directorate would be responsible for any disruption in patient care at govt facilities if the issue remains unresolved.
The scheme, which promises regular promotions and salary hikes for govt doctors, was ordered to be implemented in the state on May 10, 2022.
However, delays in implementation are impacting doctors' career and salaries.
"We are against any form of protest because we care for patients. We will begin by working with black armbands, but if nothing changes, we will proceed with a statewide protest," said Dr Manoj Verma, chairperson of Uttarakhand's Provincial Medical and Health Services Association (PMHS). The association submitted a memorandum to state health minister, Dhan Singh Rawat, through director-general of health, Dr Tara Arya.
If implemented, the scheme will grant govt doctors promotions and salary hikes at 4, 13, 19, and 20 years of service. The protesting doctors also raised concerns about issues related to transfers, safety, and other long-standing matters that have been repeatedly discussed with authorities.
