ERODE: Education department officials have initiated a departmental inquiry against the headmaster and commerce teacher of an aided higher secondary school at Chennimalai for slapping a Class XII student who questioned the teacher for erasing the lessons she wrote down on blackboard before he could note the same down.
The student, who vomited and collapsed immediately after he was thrashed, is undergoing treatment at the govt hospital in Erode town.

According to an official source, the incident took place on Friday when commerce teacher Gokilavani erased the lessons she wrote down on blackboard. "The student questioned the teacher's act, stating many of them hadn't completed noting the lessons down. The teacher took up the matter with headmaster Arumugam, who slapped the student five times. When the student vomited and collapsed, the duo sent him home without informing his parents."
The student narrated the incident to his parents, who took him to the govt hospital in the town. When contacted, Erode district chief education officer T Sampath said they had initiated a departmental inquiry into the incident.
