ERODE: Chennimalai police in Erode district launched a search for a man on the charges of killing his own dog. The police registered the case on Saturday based on the complaint lodged by the animal enthusiast D Prem Kumar and Hope For Critters - Chennai.
In the complaint, Prem Kumar said that he spotted the dog's carcass at the garbage dumpyard at Engur village near Chennimalai on Friday evening.
"The accused AK MSD Dinesh of Engur stated on his
Facebook page that he had killed his pet dog after it urinated on his newly bought sandals," the complainant said. He also said that Dinesh got irked for the dog's repeated attempts due to which he killed it and disposed of it at the dumpyard. .
The police, after receiving the complaint, registered the case under IPC section 429 read with section 11 of the Prevention of cruelty to animals act of 1960. "We have registered the case and launched a search for the accused," said S Priya, sub-inspector of Chennimalai police station.
