DIMAPUR: Union minister for shipping, ports and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, on Tuesday said Nagaland had a very important role to play in the country's
development.
Addressing the extended state executive meeting of Nagaland BJP, Sonowal said Nagaland's traditional products, including handloom and handicrafts, were unique, while adding that the coffee produced by the state was one of the best in the world.
Nagaland being one of the most resourceful states in India, has the potential to be a self-reliant state, Sonowal said.He asked the party workers to focus on the principle of nation first and urged them to make BJP a more popular and acceptable party in Nagaland.
"Earlier, there was no sense of security in the northeast, but now there is peace in the region, for investment," Sonowal said.
BJP national secretary and the party's in-charge of Nagaland and Meghalaya, Anil K Antony, said the northeast region had witnessed unprecedented development in the last few years.
