Indore: Residents and officials took up broom to keep the country's cleanest city swachh on Wednesday morning as around 8,000 sanitation workers of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) observed holiday to celebrate Bhagwan Gogadev Janmotsav.
Public representatives, senior officials from different departments and district administration, along with volunteers from various organisations, took up brooms to clean the major roads and squares in the city.
The special cleanliness drive, centred around Rajwada Palace, Regal Square, Pardeshipura, Patnipura, LIG Square, Palasia Square, AB Road, Greater Kailash Road, Bada Ganpati Square, MG Road, Chhappan-Dukan, and other key areas, saw active participation from Indore mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, collector Asheesh Singh, IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, additional commissioner Abhilash Mishra and local public representatives.
On the occasion, the mayor said, "Our sanitation workers have tirelessly contributed to Indore's cleanliness throughout the year. Even during festivals and processions, they promptly clean the roads. It is our duty to lend a hand when they take a well-deserved break for Bhagwan Gogadev Janmotsav”.
The collector highlighted the symbolic significance of the drive and said, "Today's cleaning effort is a gesture of solidarity for our sanitation workers and a recognition of their invaluable contributions to maintaining Indore's cleanest city tag. By participating in this drive across all 85 wards and major thoroughfares, IMC officials, public representatives, and NGOs are demonstrating their commitment to keeping the city pristine".
