Jaipur: The city police on Friday informed
Rajasthan High Court that they have been using a wide range of methods to trace a 21-year-old youth who went missing from Shastri Nagar. Interception call detail records (ICDR), global positioning system (GPS), social media, drones and helicopters have been used along with massive scanning of the area to trace Rahul, police told the HC.
Police said a reward of Rs 25,000 has also been announced for anyone who finds the missing youth and that a special investigation team has been formed to investigate the case.
DCP (North) Rashi Dogra, ADCP (North) Bajrang Singh, and ACP Bhopal Singh Bhati appeared before the bench of Justice Inderjit Singh and Justice Bhuvan Goyal to share the details of their efforts to find Rahul. The HC fixed the case for the next hearing two weeks later.
The HC had asked the state govt and police to explain their efforts to search for the missing youth while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by his father. No details about the investigation related to the death of Rahul’s brother, Ashish, were, however, shared by police. The two brothers, Rahul and Ashish, had gone to Nahargarh hills on Aug 1. While Ashish’s body was found the next day, Rahul remains missing since.
Police informed the HC that they are doing everything possible to find Rahul in the dense forest area near Nahargarh. They said they have used drones, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) mapping, helicopters, and teams of more than 200 policemen to search for Rahul. The area has many gorges, making the search operation challenging, they said.
