Jaipur: Heavy rain in eastern Rajasthan flooded many areas in Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur, and Ajmer on Thursday. Road connectivity to Ranthambore National Park was disrupted after the Rajbagh bridge, which connects Sawai Madhopur city to the park, developed cracks due to heavy rainfall and was closed for traffic.
Heavy rainfall began early in the morning in Dholpur and Sawai Madhopur.
Rajakhera in Dholpur recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 240mm.
Schools in Dholpur have been asked to remain closed till further orders. Parvati Dam in Dholpur was overflowing with 3 of its 16 gates opened to release excess water.
Dholpur city recorded the second-highest rainfall during the day at 186mm, followed by Sawai Madhopur with 159 mm, Aklera (Jhalawar) 130mm, Maniya (Dholpur) 127mm, Sepau (Dholpur) 113mm, Bari (Dholpur) 110mm, and Manoharthana (Jhalawar) 101mm. Rainfall varying from 90mm to 10mm was recorded at several other places in the state.
The Met office in Jaipur said heavy rainfall will take place at many places in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions of the state on Friday, and mild to moderate showers will continue in some parts in Jodhpur division.
