A 40-year-old woman named Tarannum from UP's Gonda was given triple talaq by her husband Abdul Rashid, who works in Saudi Arabia, through a WhatsApp text after she refused to yield to his pressure to take Rs 40 lakh from her elder brother for donating one of her kidneys to him.

Wife, in-laws held after man's death
Alam Hossain, a resident of Tiljala, was found dead in Anandapur police station area. His sister, Ruksana Khatoon, lodged a complaint alleging that he was beaten to death by his wife and in-laws. Five persons, including Hossain's wife, Gudiya Bibi, have been arrested. The incident took place on Khalpar Road close to Gulshan Colony. Hossain, who was in-charge of a sandal production unit, had separated from his wife. He was brought to CNMC Hospital in a severely injured condition and dumped there.

The Kasarwadavali police have issued notices to Ashwajit Gaikwad, son of a bureaucrat, and two others for allegedly trying to mow down Priya Singh. Priya Singh has demanded to invoke attempt to murder charge. The police have seized the SUV involved in the incident and will record statements of the trio. The victim alleges that the police are helping the accused due to the clout of the bureaucrat.
