Jodhpur: Holding up public works purposefully, compelling citizens to take rounds of offices, and exhibiting brazen indifference to duties is not uncommon in municipal bodies. An example of it came in full view of the mayor of Jodhpur South municipal corporation on Friday when she conducted a surprise inspection.
Mayor Vanita Seth reached the municipal office in the late morning hours and saw that some employees were sitting with their legs upon their table while others were listening to songs on their mobile phones and using social media.
All of them were caught off guard by the sudden visit of the mayor. Several employees were not found at their seats even at that hour of day. Seth warned that strict action would be taken against officials.
