Cantt Club beat Royal Club 3-1 in futsal championship
Kanpur: Cantonment Club defeated Royal Club in a penalty shootout with a score of 3-1 in the Martyr Captain Ajay Yadav Memorial Futsal Championship. The final, held at the Shastri Nagar Futsal ground here on Thursday, coincided with the occasion of Independence Day.
The two teams were in a deadlock, with the scoreline reading 1-1 at the end of the stipulated time.

To decide the champion, the organizers resorted to the penalty shootout. Cantonment Club converted two spot-kicks, while Royal Club managed to find the back of the net only once.
As many as 20 teams participated in the championship. The tournament commenced with the inaugural ceremony presided over by IM Rohatgi, patron of the Futsal Association. As the event drew to a close, Vinod Gupta, local corporator who was the chief guest, distributed prizes to the winners.
Sudhir Yadav and Adarsh Yadav were felicitated for their exceptional performances, with the former netting a hat-trick and the latter delivering a stellar display throughout the tournament.
Among those who graced the function included Manoj Chaturvedi and Ajit Singh, president and secretary of the Futsal Association, respectively. The parents of Martyr Captain Ayush Yadav, Arun Kant Yadav and his wife and others.

Despite the win, they couldn't advance to the quarterfinals, finishing second in Group B. Bengaluru FC topped the group. Meanwhile, Tribhuvan Army FC beat Rangdajied United FC 2-0.
