Kalanathan's body handed over to MCH

KOZHIKODE: The body of rationalist leader and former president and secretary of Kerala Yukthivadi Sangham U Kalanathan, who had passed away late Wednesday night, was handed over to Kozhikode Government Medical College as per his last wish on Thursday. He was 84.
Hundreds of people paid tributes to him when his body was kept for public homage at the Vallikunnu grama panchayat open stage.He had served as president of Vallikunnu panchayat twice from 1979 to 1984 and from 1995 to 2000.
Born in Vallikunnu in 1940,he made his political foray through Kerala Students Federation and joined the CPM in 1968. Kalanathan had served as science teacher at Umbichi Haji Higher Secondary School at Chaliyam until 1995. He had also served as national secretary of Federation of Indian Rationalists Association.
