KOZHIKODE: More Muslim organizations demanded change in LS polling date in Kerala (April 26), which falls on a Friday, saying that Friday prayers need to be held at mosques.
A statement, which was signed by leaders of various organizations, including Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, Samastha president Syed Mohammed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, Sunni leader Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musaliyar, said if election dates aren't changed, then Muslims won't be able to fully participate in the electoral exercise.

"It would be discriminatory and a violation of Constitutional rights. This includes Kerala where around 30% of the population are Muslims. Thousands of believers on election duty and booth agents will not be able to participate in Friday prayers," said the statement that urged Election Commission of India to change the poll date
They said Kerala govt should officially ask ECI to change dates and urged secular parties to put pressure on the issue. Leaders of KNM, Jamaat-e-Islami, among others are signatories of the statement.
