Lucknow: A two-day exhibition ‘Lucknowi Bawarchi Khane' celebrating the culinary traditions of Lucknow began at Lucknow Bioscope, Kaiserbagh on Saturday.
From the lively streets filled with food vendors to the home kitchens, the exhibition explores generational stories and the rich tastes of Lucknow's street food culture. The event organised by Sanatkada Trust is a charity event.
Entry is through donations. All proceeds from will go to Lucknow Bioscope/Sanatkada Trust, said organisers.
Visitors got to explore beautifully curated sections showcasing the personal stories and histories of both street vendors and home chefs who have preserved these age-old culinary practices.
The exhibition has installations such as a traditional Dastarkhwan setup, kitchen displays, a detailed mapping of Lucknow's iconic street foods, and a Naimatkhaana (food preservation cabinet), all of which capture the warmth, aromas, and legacy of the city's gastronomic journey.
Film screenings featured home chefs discussing famous recipes like 'Ghuiya Gosht', 'Khade Masale ka Keema', and 'Aloo Gosht', offering a glimpse into their kitchens and culinary philosophies.
Culinary experts such as Rishad Rizvi, Saba Hasan, and Madhu Wadhwa shared their knowledge of the rich cultural heritage of Lucknowi cuisine.
Discussion on distinction between the famed Awadhi Pulao, often served in popular outlets across the city, and the more homely Yakhni Pulao, cherished in Lucknow households, were held.
