Two years back, chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced implementation of the 7th pay scale but this it has still not been done.”
“This is a major issue. Colleges submitted files regarding the 7th Pay Commission with the DPI office two years back. However, the DPI office has not completed the process of pay fixation in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission in even 1/3rd of aided colleges in Punjab. The DPI should held accountable for delaying the process intentionally,” said Chamkaur Singh, assistant professor (Hindi) in A S College for Women, Khanna.
Officials have repeatedly submitted complaints in this regard to the chief minister but in vain. Raman K. Sharma, assistant professor at Arya College and area secretary, Panjab University, Chandigarh (PCCTU) said, “Another issue is enhancement of grant from 75% to 95% under the new grant-in-aid scheme, resulting in financial burden on colleges and difficulties for affected teachers as well as conversion of uncovered posts to covered posts in aided colleges under 95% grant. Filling posts in aided colleges is the duty of the government and vacant posts in aided colleges need to be filled as soon as possible,” he said.
District secretary, PCCTU Sundar Singh from Arya College said that professors should have exemption for refresher courses and posts of professors in colleges should be filled on the lines of government colleges.
