Mysuru: Here is good news for bus passengers as the govt-run
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Thursday launched Outer Ring Road (ORR) bus services which has been a long-pending demand.
Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa launched the bus services to mark the Independence Day. The initiative is aimed at helping passengers who have been struggling to travel back home from work due to lack of services all these years.
MLA and former minister Tanveer Sait, Karnataka Exhibition Authority chairman Ayub Khan, Muda chairman K Marigowda, Mysuru DC Lakshmikanth Reddy, police commissioner Seema Latkar, ZP CEO KM Gayathri and senior KSRTC officials were present.
Daily wage workers, vendors living on the outskirts of the city were dependent on vehicles like autorickshaws and cabs, where they were charged on seat-sharing basis. The fare was quite expensive for them as it was unregulated. Now, the newly launched bus services are expected to benefit them.
KSRTC (Mysuru Urban division) has announced its plans to operate buses covering the entire stretch of the 42km-long Outer Ring Road. Buses will be operated on four different routes in anti-clockwise direction on all four directions – east, west, south and north, of the Outer Ring Road. To start with, about 14 schedules will be operated and depending upon the demand, the frequency will be increased.
