Patna: Leader of opposition in state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, on Monday took a jibe at Jan Suraaj founder
Prashant Kishor on his statement that he will end liquor prohibition within an hour if his political party comes to power in
Bihar.
The RJD neta also called Prime Minister Narendra Modi the biggest enemy of Bihar, which is at the bottom of Niyi Aayog's recent report on per capita income and poverty.
Bihar ranked 57, followed by Jharkhand (62) and Nagaland (63) in the
Niti Aayog's Sustainable Development Goal India Index 2023-24.
Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarpur during his ongoing yatra, Tejashwi said it's strange for a person (PK) speaking against prohibition while always displaying the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi, who opposed the use of liquor, in his backdrop whenever he spoke.
The poll strategist, who conducted padyatra across the state in the last two years as part of his Jan Suraaj Abhiyan before planning to launch his political party on October 2, recently told the media, “Jis din Jan Suraaj ki sarkar bani, ek ghante mein sharab-bandi khatm.”
Kishor also questioned Tejashwi’s identity as a political leader, saying people know him because he is the son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad. “Otherwise, what identity Class IX-fail Tejashwi has,” asked PK, who claims to be doing the "kabiliyat ki rajniti (politics of merit)”.
Apart from PK, replying to a question on PM Modi’s remarks on Sunday that Congress, RJD and JMM were the three enemies of Jharkhand, Tejashwi said it is otherwise.
“The BJP has ruled the state for the longest period. Despite 20 years of Nitish's rule in Bihar and PM Modi's govt at the Centre for the last 11 years, 2.90 crore people of Bihar have migrated to other states. Prime Minister Modi is the biggest enemy of Bihar as during the election period, he promises to develop the state, but later it gets step-motherly treatment,” he said.
However, BJP state president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal claimed Bihar has got Rs 58,900 crore in the Union Budget this year and Rs 1,25,444 crore as state share in net proceeds from central taxes, besides Rs 26,710 crore for road infrastructure, which is the highest so far for Bihar.
Tejashwi also attacked the Nitish govt on law and order, alleging corruption in govt offices for land survey, smart meter and bridge construction. He also alleged the CM was misusing CID and special branch for spying on him. “At Darbhanga on Sunday, CID and special branch officers were present in the internal RJD workers’ meeting in the garb of journalists. When the RJD workers insisted on revealing their identity, they showed their ID cards. Alas! Had the govt been keeping so much watch on murderers and rapists. Nitish fears us,” Tejashwi said.
The RJD leader further said 200 doctors had been suspended and 700 faced action for dereliction of duty during his tenure as state health minister. “Now, BJP netas only talk about Hindu-Muslim, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kashmir but not on real issues,” he alleged.
