PUDUCHERRY: Additional district judge (III) M Elavarasan sentenced a 32-year-old man on Tuesday to life imprisonment for murdering his 51-year-old mother suspecting her fidelity in March 2019.
The prosecution said he lived with the decomposed body of his mother for four days before surrendering.
The judge convicted him based on circumstantial and forensic evidence even though there were no witnesses in the case.
The prosecution said S Jayamary, a widow, bought a house at
Krishna Nagar in 2019 and was living with her son
S Arun, a graduate in computer applications. Their relationship turned sour after
Arun started suspecting his mother's fidelity. They quarrelled frequently and after one such quarrel, Arun hit his mother with a dining chair. Jayamary sustained severe head injuries and fell unconscious. Then Arun fatally stabbed her neck several times . He dumped the body in the room and locked it and went about his routine for four days, before he surrendered to the police.
