Minor killed in accident, cousin severely injured
Pune: A 16-year-old youth was killed and his cousin (also 16) severely injured after a container truck knocked their motorcycle in an attempt to overtake another truck near Navlakh Umbre village in Maval taluka, about 35km from the city around 12.30pm on Tuesday.
The Talegaon MIDC police have registered a case against the drivers of both trucks under Section 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving on a public way) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sub-inspector BR Jadgale said, "The victim was underage and still driving the motorcycle. We will record the statement of his parents and then decide the further course of action."
Jagdale said the accident occurred on a sharp turn near Jadhavwadi dam, about 5km from Navlakh Umbre village. "The victim and his cousin were driving towards Jambwade village on a motorcycle. The victim was driving the motorcycle," Jagdale said.
"The turn on the road near Jadhavwadi is quite sharp. One of the container trucks overtook another here and knocked the duo's motorcycle coming from the opposite side," he said.
He further said, "One of them died on the spot, while the other was severely injured. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital."
Jagdale said that the police have arrested one of the drivers. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. "He has been sent to the Yerawada central prison," Jagdale said.
Another officer from the Talegaon MIDC police said that the victim's father suffered a heart attack after hearing the news of the accident. The victim was a Std XII student. "Our investigations are on," he said.
