Ranchi: The fight for the rights of running the famed Deori Mandir, and sharing the donation funds between two groups of locals resulted in the daylong bandh of the local markets in the two blocks of Bundu and Tamar on Friday. Since 2021, a district administration-run trust has been managing the temple affairs and is supported by one group of locals which called the bandh.
The bandh was also supported by VHP and Bajrang Dal. The other group, which was running the temple earlier, locked the gates demanding a share of the donation funds. Administration officials led by SDO Mohanlal Marandi, who also heads the current temple trust, intervened and broke open the locks. Cops increased patrolling to prevent any untoward incidents. Rapid Action Police was also deployed. Senior officials, including SDO and SDPOs, were monitoring the situation.
