Fermented mahua destroyed in drive against liquor
Palamu: Palamu police, along with Tandwa police from Bihar, on Wednesday seized around seven quintals of fermented ‘mahua’ used to distil country liquor during a joint raid conducted at Kulhaiyya to curb the production of illicit liquor.
Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan said, “The raid ahead of the assembly elections is to ensure that the region is free of any illegal activity.”
Led by Ameet Kumar from Tandwa police station and Chandan Kumar from Harihurganj, the personnel razed the makeshift structures used to brew illicit liquor.

The driver, Mahendrakumar Sarang from Rajasthan, was arrested. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin and destination of the liquor.
