Shillong: Preparations are underway for Janmashtami celebrations on Monday, with temples illuminated across Meghalaya, reports Manosh Das. “We will hold a procession with tableaux depicting the teachings and various ‘leelas’ of Sree Krishna tomorrow,” said a member of a temple’s managing committee in Shillong. “Janmashtami is celebrated with lots of joy and fervor.

We arrange for the distribution of prasad, sweets, and fruits among the people,” said an organizer of a community Janmashtami celebration in the city. “Cultural programs based on Gopala will also be held,” he added.
