NEW DELHI: Preparations are ongoing in Srinagar for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election rally on Thursday. The Union Territory will start its three-phase assembly elections on September 18, with 24 constituencies participating in the first phase.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Altaf Thakur shared details with ANI, stating, "The day after tomorrow (September 19), PM Modi will be here and address a public rally, Preparations are underway.

It will be a very big rally, and people here are excited to listen to him. This will be the third visit of PM here (J&K) this year."
Thakur also mentioned, "He (PM Modi) is coming here to interact with the party workers. He will meet with the 19 candidates of the party. This will boost the morale of the candidates and will also help us in winning."
Earlier on September 14, Prime Minister Modi addressed a poll rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh addressed the Congress's claim to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, dismissing it as a "fake narrative." Singh noted, "The Congress manifesto carries no credibility and people will not take it seriously. They have started demanding statehood, which is a fake narrative because the PM has already said that statehood would be restored after the elections. The Congress and the National Conference think they will create a false narrative that the statehood is restored because of their pressure. But that is not going to work."
The second phase of the assembly elections will be held on September 25, and the third phase on October 1. Vote counting is scheduled for October 8.
