Surat: The Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) wore a festive look on Sunday on the occasion of Ashadhi Bij with hundreds of diamond manufacturers, traders and employees gathered to perform the muhurat opening of over 250 offices. Some of the top players from the industry have set up their offices at the SDB for the first time. On the occasion, SDB’s core committee made several announcements to attract brokers from Mahidharpura and Mini Bazaar as well.
Cubicles and co-working spaces will be provided to the brokers who do not have offices here.
“Those who want to do business in SDB can come and use the shared space. SDB provides wonderful opportunities to the diamond industry,” said Govind Dholakia, chairman, SDB.
“We will gradually develop infrastructure for coworking spaces as and when it is required. At present, nearly 50 per cent of the firms that will be using 250 offices in SDB also have offices in Mumbai,” said Lalji Patel, vice-president, SDB.
The cubicles will be around 50 sq ft each while the halls will have desk facilities. Patel further assured the industry leaders, “Over 1,000 offices will be operational before Diwali. We now have transport facilities and soon the Customs house will also be operational.”
“Shree Ramkrishna Export is starting its office in SDB. I want to assure industry people that the infrastructure is world class,” added Dholakia, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP.
