Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of replacing the three-year degree courses with four-year courses, the state govt has issued orders for the formation of a model PG curriculum in colleges in the state.
The Kerala higher education curriculum committee has been entrusted with the task of preparing the model post graduate curriculum. The terms of reference of the committee are the following: prepare the necessary curriculum and structure for conducting PG courses in state universities and submit the eligibility guidelines for transferring current first-year students to the second year.
The Kerala state higher education council would coordinate the activities of the committee which has been given four months to submit the report to the govt.
Meanwhile, a coordination committee for the conduct of the proposed international higher education conclave would be formed at a meeting at Cusat on Friday. As part of the attempts to establish Kerala as a higher education hub, the conclave is planned from Dec 17 to 20 in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The first phase, named ‘Udyama', will be organised by the department of technical education in Thiruvananthapuram from Dec 17 to 19. The second phase will take place in Kochi on Dec 19 and 20, higher education minister R Bindu said.
Exhibitions reflecting the achievements of Kerala's higher education sector will be organised as part of the conclave.
