VISAKHAPATNAM: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, a ceremonial parade was held at Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in
Vizag on Thursday. The parade comprised marching contingents of Naval personnel, Defence Security Corps, and Sea Cadet Corps.
Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, inspected the 50-men armed guard and reviewed the parade.
He appreciated the men and women on parade for their fine drill movements and excellent turnout and conveyed greetings to all naval personnel and families of ENC on this occasion.
He congratulated all personnel for their commitment towards all significant achievements of the Sunrise Command, including anti-piracy operations and the conduct of Milan - 2024 - the largest ever Multilateral Maritime Exercises by our nation. Looking ahead, the C-in-C also highlighted forthcoming events - Multinational maritime exercises Malabar - 2024 in Oct 2024 and Navy Day activities, including Op-Demo in Dec 24.
On completion of the parade, Vice Admiral Pendharkar interacted with participants, spectators, families, veterans, and awardees of Honorary Commission ranks. The engagement underscored the community spirit and shared pride in the nation’s heritage.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 'Victory at Sea' Memorial
To commemorate the 78th Independence Day, Vice Admiral G Srinivasan, Director General Naval Projects, placed a wreath at the 'Victory at Sea' memorial located at RK Beach in Vizag city. This solemn event was held to honour the sacrifices made by our naval heroes and to celebrate the enduring spirit of India’s independence. The ceremony was marked by a 50-men Guard of Honour, as a token of respect to the occasion.
