Visakhapatnam: Ananthagiri ZPTC member Deesari Gangaraju on Tuesday urged youngsters to stay away from drugs and sought their help to make Alluri Seetharama Raju (ASR) district into a drug-free zone.
He was speaking at an awareness programme conducted against drug use at Govt Junior College in Ananthagiri on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by Samidha NGO to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Gangaraju explained the importance of young people staying away from addictions to bring about positive change in the society.
Samidha NGO secretary D Veerabhadram Rao informed that the organisation had prepared a plan to conduct awareness programmes in all major mandals of Alluri Seetharama Raju district against drugs. He added that the NGO’s primary goal was to help young people overcome addiction and build a better future.
Meanwhile, Boddeti Partha Sarathi and Neelapu Vara Venkat Prasad, president and secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Drug Users Network, spoke about the devastating impact of drug abuse on young people, their families, and society.
They highlighted the need for counselling services to help addicts recover and reintegrate into society.
Local ASI Rajam Naidu, college principal K. Premala, and other staff members participated in the event.
