Veteran star and politician Jaya Bachchan recently expressed her discomfort with being referred to by her husband Amitabh Bachchan's name as part of her own, asserting that every woman has her own identity.
Amid this, an old video of Aishwarya Rai is going viral on social media, showing her reaction to being referred to as ‘Rai Bachchan’ after her marriage to Abhishek.
The video starts with a journalist introducing Aishwarya Rai using the surname ‘Rai Bachchan.’ In response, Aishwarya playfully says, "Ohoo… that title is… my god! Just regular Aishwarya, the way you’ve known me." When asked if ‘Rai Bachchan’ is her official surname, she clarifies, "Aishwarya Rai, as I’ve been professionally known, who got married to Abhishek Bachchan.

So, obviously, Aishwarya Bachchan. Make what you want of it."
However, Abhishek and Aishwarya have been making headlines since their separate arrivals at the star-studded wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan, who recently attended the Paris 2024 Olympics, addressed the media and dismissed the divorce rumours circulating about him and Aishwarya Rai.
In an interview with Bollywood UK Media, Abhishek Bachchan displayed his wedding ring, affirming that he was "still married" and dismissing the divorce rumours. He criticized the media for its insensitivity in spreading gossip, expressing disappointment at how the situation had been blown out of proportion.

For the unversed, Abhishek and Aishwarya made their relationship public after their engagement in January 2007 and got married in a beautiful, traditional South Indian wedding at the Bachchan residence in April the same year. They welcomed their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan on November 16, 2011.
