Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to President
Joe Biden in a telephonic conversation on Monday expressing gratitude for the President's dedication to fostering the partnership between India and the United States.
The prime minister also briefed the president on his recent visit to Ukraine and reiterated India's unwavering stance in support of dialogue and diplomacy, expressing full support for an early return to peace and stability.
The two leaders expressed their concern about the situation in Bangladesh, stressing the importance of restoring law and order and ensuring the safety and security of minorities, particularly Hindus, in the country.
Sharing a post on X, PM Modi said: "Spoke to POTUS on phone today. We had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India’s full support for early return of peace and stability."
"We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed on the need for early restoration of normalcy, and ensuring the safety and security of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh," the PM wrote on X.
PM Modi expressed his gratitude for President Biden's strong commitment to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, which is based on shared values of democracy, rule of law, and robust people-to-people connections. The leaders assessed the substantial progress made in bilateral relations and emphasized that the India-US partnership aims to benefit the people of both nations and the entire world.
PM Modi and Biden reaffirmed their dedication to further strengthening cooperation in multilateral forums, including the Quad. They also agreed to remain in touch.
