Indian Embassy official found dead at Washington DC office under mysterious circumstances

NEW DELHI: An Indian Embassy official was found dead under mysterious circumstances within the mission's premises, officials said in a statement on Friday.
The incident, which took place two days ago on Wednesday, is currently under investigation by both local law enforcement and the Secret Service. The probe into the embassy official's death is exploring various possibilities, including the potential of suicide, according to news agency PTI.
"With deep regret, we wish to confirm that a member of the Embassy of India passed away in the evening of 18th September 2024.We are in touch with all relevant agencies and members of the family to ensure the swift transfer of the mortal remains to India," the Indian Embassy said in a statement.
"Additional details regarding the deceased are not being released out of concern for the family's privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of grief," it added.
However, no definitive conclusions have been reached at this stage, as the investigation remains ongoing and further details are awaited.
