According to reports, Roy and Nambiar, an entrepreneur, got married in a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony. The wedding photos of Roy dressed as South Indian bride was also shared by several of her fans and friends on the internet. On Wednesday, the haldi and mehendi ceremonies were held. A full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade was held on Monday in Srinagar as police said security measures have been beefed up across Kashmir to ensure incident free celebrations on January 26. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole presided over the dress rehearsal parade at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket stadium in Srinagar amid tight security arrangements, officials said. Various contingents of the police and other paramilitary forces took part in the march past, they said. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said security has been beefed up across Kashmir to ensure peaceful and incident free Republic Day celebrations. "For the past one week, police with help of the army and the CRPF have been carrying out area domination and other drills. We are also carrying out drone surveillance to ensure peaceful celebrations not only in Srinagar but in all district headquarters," Kumar said. Security forces have been carrying out random checking of vehicles to prevent movement of subversive elements, the officials said. The deployment of security forces around vital installations and sensitive areas in the city has been increased, they added. The main Republic Day programme of Jammu and Kashmir will be held at Jammu where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the official function. In Kashmir, the main function will be held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium. (PTI)

A popular jewellery brand’s advertisement has become the talk of the town much after it’s release as it got viciously trolled online and a trend started on twitter to boycott it. The 45-second ad featured a Muslim family celebrating a traditional South Indian baby shower ceremony for their pregnant daughter-in-law. Actress Divya Dutta, who had given the voice over to the latest jewellery ad on interfaith family, said it was disheartening that the jewellery brand withdrew the commercial following a backlash as unity in diversity forms the core of the country' value system. When a Twitter user asked Divya Dutta if it was her voice in the commercial, the actor replied, "Yes it's my voice. It is sad it's taken off air. I loved it." Commenting on Dutta's post, another user said, "Nothing against you but what's wrong is wrong." To this, she responded, "But sir don't we all promote brotherhood?? We as India are all about that. That's our soul sir. Unity in diversity bachpan mein sunte the. Aise to kitne ads hote the. Koi kuch nai kehta tha... par chalein sabke apne vichar (We were taught about unity in diversity during our childhood. There were so many ads like this. Nobody ever said anything against them. But everyone has their own views)." On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut, who has in the past called herself a ‘bhakt’, also shared the sentiment. “The concept wasn’t as much a problem as the execution was, the fearful Hindu girl apologetically expressing her gratitude to her in-laws for the acceptance of her faith, Isn’t she the woman of the house? This advert does not only promote love-jihad but also sexism #tanishq.” The company's move prompted intense debate on social media and elsewhere, just as the ad to promote its jewellery collection had deepened faultlines since its release. Some accused the brand of promoting "love jihad" and "fake secularism", with the commercial inviting flurry of tweets demanding a ban on the advertisement and a boycott of the brand. The Bengaluru police raided Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi's residence at Mumbai in search of his brother-in-law Aditya Alva, who is wanted in a drug case, police sources said. Aditya Alva was absconding in a drug case registered at Cottonpet police station, Bengaluru joint commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said. "Vivek Oberoi is his relative and we got some information that Alva is there. So a court warrant was obtained and the Central Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai," the officer told PTI. Police felt that the actor might be aware of his whereabouts and so the searches were carried out. However, they did not divulge the outcome of the raid. Aditya Alva is the son of former minister late Jeevaraj Alva. According to sources, he has been absent for the past one month ever since the police launched a crackdown against drug peddlers, suppliers and rave party organisers. More than 15 people have been arrested in this case including Kannada film actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, rave party organiser Viren Khanna, realtor Rahul Thonse, and a few Nigerians. Singer-actor Aditya Narayan, who is all set to tie the knot with long time girlfriend Shweta Agarwal this year, has opened up about his financial struggles amid coronavirus outbreak. He revealed that he has blown up his savings during the lockdown. The TV show host said he only has about Rs 18,000 in his bank account. Aditya said that he had never planned that he won’t be working for a year but the lockdown changed all his plans. He even revealed that he may have to sell his personal belongings if the situation turns out more bad, he said, “At the end of the day, you’ve to take some harsh calls. When you take those harsh calls, there will be a certain section of people who will say that this decision is incorrect.” Aditya opened up about his financial situation in an interview to an entertainment portal and said how like the entire nation, he too was affected by the lockdown. He said, “If the government extends the lockdown even further, people will start dying of hunger. My whole savings are depleted. I’ve literally finished my savings. All the money I had invested in Mutual Funds, I had to withdraw all of that (to survive). Because nobody had planned that I wouldn’t be working for a year and yet chilling it out. Nobody plans it like that. Unless you’re like some billionaire. So there is no choice. Like I’ve Rs 18,000 left in my account.” “So if I don’t start working by October, I would have no money. I would have to sell off my bike or something. It’s really tough,” he added. Before the lockdown, Aditya had announced a six-month break from television to focus on his singing career. Several Bollywood celebrities including Vikram Bhatt, Raza Murad, Kunicka Lall, Farhan Akhtar, Taapsee Pannu and many others hailed the Bombay High Court's decision to grant bail to actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested over drugs-related charges in her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, were arrested last month by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with its drugs probe in Rajput's death. A bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal also granted bail to Rajput's aides Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda, but rejected the bail plea of Showik Chakraborty, who is also an accused in the case. The development came days after the AIIMS medical board ruled out murder in the death of Rajput and termed it "a case of hanging and death by suicide", which is currently being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Taapsee Pannu took to Twitter and prayed for the 28-year-old actor's well-being after her month-long jail term. "Hope her time in jail has sufficed the egos of a lot of people out there who in the name of justice for Sushant fulfilled their personal/professional agendas. "Praying she doesn't become bitter towards the life she has ahead of her. Life is unfair but at least it's not over as yet," she wrote. Akhtar criticised the vicious and insensitive TV media coverage around Rhea Chakraborty. "Any shrill anchors apologising for the hell they put #RheaChakraborty and her family through? Didn't think so. But watch them shift the goalpost now. They're notorious for that," the "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" star tweeted. The HC, while granting bail to Rhea Chakraborty and two others, directed them to deposit their passports with the NCB and not to leave the country without permission of the special NDPS court. The HC also directed Rhea Chakraborty to visit the nearest police station for the first 10 days after she gets out of jail. It directed her not to leave Mumbai without the NCB's permission and to not tamper with evidence while out on bail.

According to latest reports, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who's accused by actress Payal Ghosh of sexual assault, has been summoned to appear at the Versova police station on October 1, 2020. Anurag's lawyer Priyanka Khimani had released a statement saying that the accusations are 'baseless'. “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest.” Payal Ghosh has also requested the Governor of Maharashtra for Y-category as she feels that her life is in danger. Governor Koshyari tweeted, “Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. @RamdasAthawale accompanied by film actress Payal Ghosh called on at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai and presented a memorandum.” Earlier, Payal Ghosh held a press conference with Ramdas Athawale, president of the Republican Party of India (RPI). Ramdas Athawale came out in support of Payal Ghosh. The actress said she would resort to a hunger strike if no action is taken against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap whom she has accused of raping her seven years ago. Ghosh told reporters outside Versova police station here that Kashyap has not been arrested despite the Mumbai Police registering an FIR against him because he is an "influential person". The actress and her lawyer Nitin Satpute reached the police station demanding a quick probe, six days after she filed an FIR against Kashyap accusing him of raping her at a place on Yari Road in Versova in 2013. Anurag Kashyap had dismissed the allegations as "baseless". Payal Ghosh said she met senior officials at the police station and threatened to go on a hunger strike "if justice is not delivered to me quickly". Ghosh also claimed that she faced a threat from Kashyap and his well-wishers. She said she was asked to come to the police station again on Monday as the investigating officer was not present. Versova police is probing the case under sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (outraging modesty of woman), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement), an official said. Kashyap's lawyer had earlier tweeted a statement that "my client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations, these are completely false, malicious and dishonest".

Actress Payal Rajput was mercilessly trolled on social media after she posted a video where she was undergoing a Covid-19 test. The actress resumed shooting after six months and had to take the mandatory test before getting back on sets. In the video, Payal is seen crying and screaming in fear and dread as she gets the test done. Within moments, the RX 100 star was trolled by netizens for “overacting” and making a “big deal out of nothing.” Payal, however, says she was genuinely scared and hits back at all those who trolled her for being afraid. Speaking to Hyderabad Times, she says, “I have a fear of needles and anything to do with medicines and injections. So getting a swab test for Covid-19 was a very uncomfortable experience for me. It is unfair and insensitive to troll me for it.” She also said, “They called three doctors to the set to test the whole unit. I got tested last because I was so scared. I kept telling people that I was fine and tried to evade it,” she grins, adding, “But ultimately, I do realise that the safety of everybody on sets is most important. I can’t compromise the safety of the whole unit because of my phobia.”

"Pandey filed a complaint late Monday night claiming her husband Sam Bombay had molested her, and threatened her with dire consequences after assaulting her. He was arrested," Inspector Tukaram Chavan of Canacona police station said. The victim was subjected to mandatory medical tests, he added. The duo were married in September, 2020 and both are on a visit to Goa on a holiday. After teaming up with Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in 'Dabangg 3', actress Saiee Manjrekar has been on cloud nine. The actress has confirmed another big project with actor Adivi Sesh. The Hindi-Telugu bilingual film 'Major' will be directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. Reportedly, the film is inspired by the life of NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan who lost his life during the horrific 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The film will also feature 'Ram Raghav 2.0' actress Sobhita Dhulipala. Saiee made the big announcement on social media saying, "Honoured, humbled and excited to be a part of the braveheart, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s biopic. It’s a film based on the NSG Commando, who fought with utmost bravery in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Can’t wait to join the cast and start shooting next month!" After signing the film, Saiee said, “For me, what matters is the script and the impact the character has in the overall narrative. Once you deep dive in the dissection of the character, there are so many beautiful emotions that as an actress I can explore. This is what I saw in the script of Major which is why when it was offered to me, I instantly said a ‘yes’ to it. I am open to working even down South and this one is a bilingual shot simultaneously in two languages. I can’t wait to start shooting for the film."

Popular playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who had been fighting COVID-19 for over a month, passed away on September 25, 2020. He was on life support and was extremely critical, a hospital treating him said. Earlier, the 74-year-old Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as SPB, admitted on August 5, "remains on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and other life support measures," MGM Healthcare said. "His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical," Assistant Director (Medical Services), MGM Healthcare, Dr Anuradha Baskaran said in a statement. A team of experts at the hospital are monitoring his health condition, she said. The health condition of the singer, who was admitted to the hospital with mild symptoms deteriorated for the first time on August 13 late night and he was put on life support and moved to the Intensive Care Unit. On August 19, he was put on ECMO besides ventilator and a day after, when he remained critical, people from all walks of life, including celebrities and the general public, came together to pray for his early recovery and his condition stabilised soon. Towards the end of last month, he underwent passive physiotherapy and later "actively participated in physiotherapy" and he was fully awake and responsive during that phase. A multi-disciplinary team, comprising specialists from internal medicine, pulmonology and infectious diseases among others, took care of him. Balasubrahmanyam, who has to his credit over 40,000 songs, has sung in languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

KWAN talent management agency came under the scanner after Jaya Saha's interrogation by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Amid this, reports claimed that Salman Khan had a stake in the talent management agency. Denying the claims made by a section of the media in reports that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has a majority stake at Kwan Talent Management Agency, his lawyer has issued a statement. The statement has been issued by Anand Desai, Managing Partner of DSK Legal on behalf of the Bollywood superstar, terming it as a false report. The statement reads: "Certain sections of the media are falsely reporting that our client Mr. Salman Khan, a leading Indian actor, has a majority stake in the talent management agency KWAN Talent Management Agency Private Limited. It is clarified that Salman Khan has no stake, directly or indirectly, in Kwan or any of its group entities. It is requested that media refrains from publishing false reports about our client." On September 22, a news channel tweeted claiming Salman Khan's firm "reportedly" owns a majority stake in Kwan. Reacting to the tweet, ‘Dabangg 3’ producer Nikhil Dwivedi had tweeted denying the news. Nikhil wrote, "This NEWS is FALSE, MALICIOUS & MISCHIEVOUS. No stake of any kind is owned by #SalmanKhan or by any of his associates in #Kwan. Telly actress Shweta Tiwari, who is currently seen in the show 'Mere Dad Ki Dulhan' opposite Varun Badola, confirmed that she has tested positive for coronavirus and has quarantined herself at home. She has mild symptoms. Talking to ETimes, Shweta told that she developed a cough on September 16. The actress, who got herself tested on September 17, has quarantined herself till October. She will undertake the next test on September 27. Meanwhile, the actress is drinking a lot of water and is catching up on reading.
