Indira Krishna has been a renowned name in the Entertainment Industry. She has experimented with numerous characters and this time she is back with yet another challenging role as Paani Bai in the show Durga. In an exclusive conversation with ETimest TV, Indira got candid about her character and the storyline of the show.
Talking about the trivia of the show and her character, Indira said, "The gist of Paani Bai is that she is an outsider in this remote place in
Rajasthan.
Earlier, there was no water so she used to bring water to the Haveli by walking kms away. Paani Bai had an extramarital affair with Savitri's husband, the King of the Haveli. Eventually, the King dies but Paani Bai doesn't leave the Haveli. She wants the same respect and place that Savitri Bai has in the Haveli."
She further added, "Paani Bai's motive is that Savitri insults her so much, she doesn't get that respect. She also wants revenge as the King didn't give her the dutiful rights that she deserved after getting water for the haveli for so many years. He only kept Paani Bai but he never acknowledged her. He only kept building hopes and eventually died. So Paani Bai takes revenge on the family through Durga."
Indira went on to describe her relationship with Durga in the show, "Durga is also an outsider, a tribal girl whom Paani Bai saved from a tribal village, and she was brought into the Haveli. As Sachin shot her father, Paani Bai took advantage of that and asked them to be responsible for her upbringing. As a child, Durga stays in that house."
On sharing about Paani Bai's nature in the show, "The King falls in love with Paani Bai because of her beauty and wit but never gives her the place she deserves. However, Paani Bai is greedy and cunning, she is eyeing to have the Haveli as hers and not let Savitri Bai rule it."

On playing the character of Paani Bai, Indira said, "Paani Bai's character is quite complex, she will never allow anybody to be happy apart from herself. She rules, manipulates and dominates the entire family. She wants everything to happen according to her way. To an extent for Durga, she wants everything to happen her way but it doesn't as Durga starts falling in love with the Prince. He is the son of Sachin who had shot Durga's father."
