Ajmer: Special Operation Group (SOG) on Thursday arrested the mediator who allegedly arranged a dummy candidate and morphed photographs and documents of original candidates to impersonate other candidates in the school lecturers’ examination in 2022.
Four such cases were registered in Ajmer, three of which were lodged by Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).
As many as 13 people have been arrested by SOG till now, and the agency is presently investigating the role of invigilators present in the examination hall when the real candidates skipped the examination, and the personating candidates appeared on their behalf.
RPSC last month called the candidates who cleared the school lecturers’ examination to verify their documents and, it was during the verification that the officials had doubts and verified the photographs of the original candidates to those of the candidates who appeared in the examination. The photographs were found morphed. Three cases were registered by RPSC under the new law.
The first case was lodged on October 5 against Sonaram of Sanchor, the second on December 14 against Pushpendra Kumar Meena of Dausa, and the third registered on December 15 against Ramparsad Meena of Badmer at Civil Lines police station of Ajmer.
On Wednesday, SOG arrested dummy candidate Ashok Kumar Vishnoi, a resident of Jalore, and police found during investigation that Arjun Kumar of Jalore was the one who managed and arranged these deals as a mediator. Arjun was arrested on Thursday and brought to Ajmer.
“We produced both Ashok and Arjun in court and got remand of five days to interrogate them,” said Sunil Tewatiya, additional SP of SOG in Ajmer.
Police said 13 accused in the case have been arrested till now. “The SIT constituted as per the CM’s orders is working on arresting such dummy candidates and their accomplices,” said an official involved in the probe. SOG found the mediators arranged dummy candidates after taking Rs 10 lakh from each original candidate and then paid the dummy candidates well for appearing in the examination. These mediators arranged the morphed photographs and other documents so that dummy candidates could enter the examination halls. “We are now investigating the role of invigilators of such examination centres,” said the official.
