AMRITSAR: A complaint has been submitted to the Akal Takht — the supreme temporal seat of Sikhs — regarding alleged disrespect towards the Guru Granth Sahib by some
Shiromani Akali Dal and
BJP leaders.
The complainant, Surjit Singh from Muktsar, has accused Akali leaders Prem Singh Chandumajra, Malwinder Singh and Surjit Singh Rakhra, BJP leader Preneet Kaur and others of placing a ‘tilak’ on the Guru Granth Sahib during a function held at Takht Nanded Sahib in 2008.
Surjit has urged the Akal Takht jathedar to address this breach of rehat maryada (Sikh code of conduct) by summoning the persons involved and announce appropriate atonement upon them.
