CHANDIGARH: The auto driver accused in the Chandigarh, Sector 10 grenade blast case of September 11 has been remanded in 14-day judicial custody and sent to Burail jail. He has been identfied as Kuldeep.
On the evening of September 11, two men lobbed a grenade at a house in the upscale Sector 10 area of Chandigarh. UT police first detained Kuldeep, an auto driver within an hour of the blast.
A case was filed against him under relevant sections of the BNS and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Punjab Police also apprehended the second accused, Vishal Masih, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab in Delhi, on Saturday. Vishal, who accompanied Rohan Masih, the main suspect who threw the grenade, to the crime scene, was arrested. Vishal accompanied Masih on two occasions, including on the day of the blast.
Rohan Masih, a resident of Passia village, Amritsar, was captured by the Special Security Operation Group (SSOG) and central agencies after a joint operation in Amritsar on Friday.
Both were planning to escape to Jammu and Kashmir after committing the crime, said sources involved in the investigation in Amritsar on Saturday. The court remanded Rohan in 6-day police custody. He is in custody of the state special operation cell (SSOC).
