FIR against DSP for taking ₹45L bribe
Chandigarh: The Punjab police’s Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) on Thursday booked DSP Vavinder Kumar Mahajan for corruption after investigation revealed that he had allegedly been supporting drug suppliers by engaging in corrupt practices. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that an FIR has been registered under Sections 7 and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 59 (2) of the NDPS Act.

An ANTF team conducted a raid at DSP Mahajan’s residence in Amritsar on Thursday, but he could not be apprehended as he is on the run.
He added that the ANTF has taken decisive action against corruption within its own ranks after recent investigations into a case about seizure of 1.98 crore Alprazolam tablets and 40 kilograms of raw Alprazolam revealed that DSP Mahajan, posted in ANTF, and his accomplice Akhil Jai Singh from Lucknow, were involved in bribery scheme. tnn
