Four prison staff, including the personal security officer of DIG Rajalakshmi, were interrogated by investigators about the alleged mistreatment of life convict Sivakumar. The convict was compelled to perform household tasks and held in solitary confinement for 89 days. He has since been relocated from Vellore jail to Salem central prison.

CHENNAI: Four prison staff, including the personal security officer of DIG (Prisons) Rajalakshmi, appeared before investigators on Monday in connection with an inquiry into the case of alleged harassment of Sivakumar, a life convict.
Prison jailer Arul Kumaran, DIG's PSO Raju and prison staff Prashanth and Viji arrived at the CB-CID office around 10.30 am for questioning.

The inquiry lasted till 3 pm.
DIG Rajalakshmi and 13 other prison staff were booked by CB-CID police for engaging Sivakumar to do their household chores. He was illegally detained in solitary confinement for 89 days, as they suspected that he had stolen 4.25 lakh from the DIG's residence.
Sivakumar has been shifted from Vellore jail to Salem central prison as of now.
