Delhi Metro will start services from 4am on all lines on Independence Day

Delhi Metro started services at 4 am from all terminals on August 15, aiding those attending Independence Day functions. The initial frequency was 15 minutes until 6 am, then followed the regular schedule. Only individuals with an official invitation from the Ministry of Defence gained access at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk stations.

On August 15, Delhi Metro began services at 4 am with a 15-minute frequency until 6 am. Access at key stations near Independence Day venues was restricted to individuals with invitations from the Ministry of Defence, also valid for their return journeys.
NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro will commence its services at 4 am on all its lines from all terminal stations on Aug 15 to facilitate public willing to attend the Independence Day functions.
The train services will be available at a frequency of 15 minutes on all the lines till 6am and thereafter, regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day.
In addition, people having a bonafide invitation card issued by the Ministry of Defence for attending the Independence Day ceremony will only be allowed entry at stations on production of a valid govt-issued photo identity card on Thursday.

“This arrangement will be valid for exit only at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk metro stations, which are closest to the venue. The same invitation cards will also be valid for return journey from these three stations only. Regular announcements will be made inside the metro trains to inform passengers about these arrangements,” said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director, corporate communications, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
