Ponda: A rupture in a pipeline at Angadi-Khandepar led caused a water shortage in Usgao village and parts of Dharbandora village on Monday. The efforts to fix the issue continued until late in the evening.
Locals said a small pipeline burst in the morning and the water division staff had summoned an excavator to dig the ground to replace the burst pipeline.
“However, while digging in, the teeth of the excavator damaged a broader 250mm diameter ductile iron pipeline, causing more damage,” said Sandeep Parker, a local.
Parker said that the rapture was caused because the contractor has constructed the stormwater drainage over the water pipeline and the water division had to dig the drainage while widening the highway stretch recently.
