Indore: Tejaji Nagar police have registered a case against a 35-year-old priest for raping a 21-year-old on temple premises.
The survivor's parents lodged a complaint against the priest Haricharan Das alleging that he raped their daughter.
ACP Ashish Patel said that the survivor told them that the incident took place on May 15 when she visited the temple early in the morning for prayers.
At that time, the temple was empty, and the priest was alone. Taking advantage of the situation, he allegedly approached her, forcibly took her to his room inside the temple, and raped her. He then threatened her, warning that if she told anyone about the assault, he would kill her family members.
Shocked by the incident, the student stopped visiting the temple. When her father visited the temple, the priest pressured him, insisting that his younger daughter should continue coming to the temple, or she would face problems in her life. Concerned, the father asked his daughter to resume visiting the temple, unaware of the incident that had taken place. It was then that the young woman revealed the priest's action and explained why she had stopped going to the temple. The family then took the girl to Tejaji Nagar police station, where they filed a complaint against the priest.
