Jaipur: The govt schoolteachers’ association in the state has written to the education secretary demanding temporary postings for their Grade-III colleagues until direct promotions are finalised.
Teachers said that this will help resolve the problem of the lack of teachers in govt schools while the state finalises its transfer policy and procedure for direct promotions.
Vipin Prakash Sharma, state president of the Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association, said, “In the department, 103 principals have been given temporary postings as district education officers in different districts to handle administrative responsibilities. Similarly, we have requested that Grade-III teachers should also be given postings as senior teachers. This will help solve the problem of the lack of teachers in schools, and the classroom teaching process can be eased.”
Teachers said that direct promotions have been pending in the department for the past five years. Teachers said that without the promotions of Grade-III teachers, the promotions of Grade-II teachers are also getting hampered. If senior teachers (Grade-II) are promoted to lecturers, then 15,000 additional posts will become vacant in the department over the existing 30,000 vacant posts.
“Subject-specific teachers are required to teach Classes 9 and 10 in the schools of the state, but as promotions have not taken place, the positions of senior teachers are vacant. The organisation urges that it would be appropriate to get temporary postings done from the list prepared as per seniority and DPC rules, similar to the orders of the DEO appointed from the post of principal,” said Sharma
