On Tuesday, district collector Gaurav Agarwal had ordered an expert committee of doctors to be constituted to probe charges of negligence. The news of her death caused widespread shock and members of her community gathered at AIIMS in protest and demanded filing of an FIR against the doctor and hospital responsible for her surgery.
CM and Gehlot express their condolences
Vishnoi had initially complained of abdominal pain, following which doctors at a private hospital in Jodhpur had diagnosed a lump in her uterus and advised surgery. A hysterectomy was performed on Sept 5. However, her health began to worsen the following day. With no signs of improvement, her family decided to move her to Ahmedabad where she had been under treatment since Sept 7.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former CM Ashok Gehlot expressed their condolences at the untimely demise of the young RAS officer. The 2016 batch officer was posted in Jodhpur.
The local administration has assured protesters that strict action would be taken against those responsible after the expert committee, constituted by SN Medical College, submits its report to the district collector.
“We have explained to them as per govt guidelines the police can file a case only after receiving the report from the committee. Her family has agreed to accept her body. The protest ended after about four-and-a-half hours,” said an official.
